iRobot Acquires Largest European Distributor Robopolis for $141 Million
iRobot, a leading consumer robotics company, has taken a significant step towards expanding its European footprint by acquiring Robopolis, its largest distributor in the region. The deal, valued at $141 million, is a cash transaction and is expected to close in October 2017.
Robopolis, a privately held company based in Lyon, France, has been an exclusive distributor of iRobot products since 2006. The company operates across seven key markets in Western Europe, including Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, and Portugal. Robopolis played a crucial role in establishing iRobot as the leading consumer robotics brand in Western Europe.
The acquisition is seen as a strategic move by iRobot to gain more control over its distribution network and drive sales in a key growth market. The company believes that a direct go-to-market approach is necessary to further expand its presence in Western Europe.

The Robopolis team will be integrated into iRobot’s EMEA operations, with the combined entity being led by Jean-Jacques Blanc, iRobot’s current VP and General Manager Overseas. The acquisition is expected to contribute incremental revenue of 25millionto35 million in 2017.
