Intel Might Put Fireworks Out of Work With FAA-Approved Drone Fleets
Intel, the technology giant, has obtained an exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that allows them to operate multiple drones simultaneously under a single pilot during nighttime hours. This exemption from FAA’s Part 107, or Small UAS Rule, is a significant development in the field of commercial drone operations.
This waiver, granted because Intel has demonstrated safety measures and flight experience, opens up new possibilities for drone usage. The most exciting prospect is the potential for synchronized drone light shows, replacing traditional fireworks displays, especially in areas prone to wildfires or drought conditions. Intel has already showcased its drone fleets performing in concert during a test in Palm Springs earlier this year, demonstrating the potential of this technology.
The ability to control multiple drones with a single pilot could also lead to new forms of aerial entertainment and advertising. This advancement has the potential to disrupt the fireworks industry and revolutionize the way we perceive and interact with drones in the future.
