Amazon Unveils Machine Learning Lab and New Image Recognition Features
Ahead of Amazon’s big AWS division Re:invent conference, the company announced two developments in AI. AWS is opening an ML Solutions Lab to pair Amazon machine learning experts with customers building AI solutions. New features in Amazon Rekognition include real-time face recognition and text recognition in images. The lab and Rekognition enhancements highlight Amazon and AWS’s push into AI, both internally and as a B2B growth area. These announcements follow AWS’s collaboration with Microsoft on Gluon, a deep learning interface. Early customers of the ML Solutions Lab include The Washington Post, Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), and the World Bank Group. Pinterest, a major Rekognition customer, is using the new features to improve its visual search capabilities. The new features underscore Amazon’s advancements in computer vision and its commitment to monetizing them.
