3D Printed Soft Artificial Heart
Scientists at ETH Zurich have successfully 3D printed a soft, flexible artificial heart that functions similarly to a natural human heart. This breakthrough employs silicone material and an ingenious design to emulate the genuine pumping motion of a real heart. The heart was constructed using a specialized 3D printing method, enabling the creation of a complex internal structure while still utilizing soft, flexible materials for its structure. In tests, the heart performed remarkably well, efficiently propelling a fluid resembling blood against pressures comparable to those found in the human body.
