Sphero Unveils New Star Wars Toys: R2-D2 and BB-9E
Sphero, the company that captured the hearts of Star Wars fans with their BB-8 droid, is back with two new additions to their collection. Fans can now own a faithful recreation of the beloved R2-D2 from the original Star Wars trilogy.
But Sphero also revealed a brand new droid: BB-9E, the latest in the astromech series. This droid comes from the First Order, sporting a black paint job and a conical head, giving it a darker appearance compared to BB-8.
While BB-9E’s design is new, the tech behind it remains familiar. The droid comes equipped with an augmented reality platform that allows for a new kind of play. Similar to the previous BB-8, users can control the droid with a smartphone app. The app lets you select pre-programmed moves or manually drive it around.
Both R2-D2 and BB-9E are available for purchase and are sure to be popular among Star Wars fans.
